How Tax Free Childcare Calculator handles calculator entries, browser information, analytics and advertising choices.
Last updated: 8 November 2026
This notice explains how Tax Free Childcare Calculator handles information on www.govtaxfreechildcarecalculator.co.uk. This is an independent information site and is not operated by GOV.UK, HMRC or another public body.
Calculations happen in your browser. The calculator code does not send your childcare bill, account balance, top-up amount or disability selection to our servers. We do not include those entries in analytics events or save them in cookies or local storage. Reloading or leaving the page clears the entries.
The calculator does not access your government childcare account. Links to GOV.UK take you to a separate service with its own privacy information.
Vercel hosts this website. When you request a page, the hosting service receives information such as your IP address, requested URL, request time and browser information. This is needed to deliver pages, investigate faults and protect the site from misuse. Our lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable and secure website.
If you allow Analytics, PostHog measures page visits and referral information, including the source of visits from search and AI services. Events may include the page URL, referring website, browser and device information, timestamps, and browser and session identifiers. These identifiers can be personal data even though we do not ask for your name or create named user profiles.
Vercel Web Analytics measures page visits and Vercel Speed Insights measures page loading and performance. Their measurements can include page URL, referrer, browser, device, operating system and country. These tools do not use analytics cookies. We still require your Analytics choice before loading them. PostHog session recording and automatic form tracking are disabled.
We use this information to understand which pages are useful and improve the site. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can refuse analytics and continue using the calculator.
If you allow Ads and marketing, Google AdSense can display, personalise and measure ads. Google may receive your IP address, page URL, browser and device information and advertising identifiers, and use cookies or similar storage. Google Tag Manager may load Google advertising tags when enabled. Our lawful basis for optional advertising processing is your consent.
Analytics and advertising are off until you allow them. The consent banner lets you accept, reject or choose categories. You can change your choices at any time using Cookie settings in the footer or the button below.
Turning a category off stops new collection, clears accessible first-party browser storage for that category and reloads the page to stop loaded scripts. This clears calculator entries. Withdrawal does not make earlier processing unlawful. It is separate from deleting information already sent to a provider; you can also ask for that information to be erased where it can be identified.
We remember your consent choices for 180 days, then ask again. We also ask again when the purposes or information needed for your choice materially change. See Cookies and similar technologies for the storage names, purposes and durations.
The providers involved are Vercel (hosting and optional analytics), PostHog (optional analytics) and Google (optional advertising). They may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Their published privacy information and data processing terms explain their processing and international-transfer safeguards:
The cookie notice gives the lifetimes of browser identifiers and your consent record. Browser storage lifetimes do not set a deletion date for records already sent to providers.
We use analytics records to compare page use, referral sources and performance over time. The retention criteria are whether individual records are still needed for that analysis, whether aggregated results can serve the same purpose, and any valid deletion request. Hosting logs are kept for diagnosing faults, protecting the service and resolving security incidents, within Vercel’s applicable retention limits. Correspondence is kept for the time needed to respond to and resolve your enquiry and any related complaint.
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict its use, receive a portable copy, or object where we rely on legitimate interests. You can withdraw optional consent at any time. We may need enough information to verify your request and locate the relevant records; please do not send childcare-account passwords or unnecessary information about your child.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how your personal information is handled.
